○ 기획의도
올해의 주제인 ‘PANDEMIC ... Hello ? Goodbye ! ’에서, 두 가지의 ‘안녕’은 각각 만남과 헤어짐의 인사를 의미한다. 불시에 인간에게 찾아온 팬데믹 시대가 건넨 절망적인 첫인사이기도 하고, 팬데믹의 종식을 원하는 인간들의 절박한 고별인사이기도 하다. 

누구도 예상하지 못한 팬데믹 상황으로 인해 동서양을 막론하고 경제, 정치, 문화, 사회 등 모든 분야의 근간이 무너지며 근대 이후 가장 강한 혼란이 2년째 이어지고 있다. 이 혼란의 시기는 인간의 과욕으로 물질 만능주의, 환경오염으로 인한 생태계 파괴, 기후변화로 그동안 쌓아올린 허무하고 절망적인 것들의 결말을 적나라하게 보여주었다. 이 시기를 헤치고 견뎌나아가야 하는 지금, 우리에게는 팬데믹 너머, 라는 과제가 생겼다. 팬데믹 이후 인류의 삶은 어떠한 방식으로 전환되어야 하는가 하는 화두가 던져진 것이다. 
 
조금은 불편한 삶, 조금은 느린 삶, 스스로를 돌아보며 동시에 다른 생명들과 공존하는 삶. 그리하여 생명의 귀함과 아름다움을 알아가는 삶을 찾아야 한다고 생각했을 때, 답은 농촌, 자연으로 향하고 있다. 그곳에서 예술은 어떻게 뿌리를 내리고 가지를 뻗어 쉼표가 될 그늘을 만들어야 할까...?

 ‘2021 섬진강국제실험예술제(SIEAF)’는 곡성의 강변에서, 길에서, 마을에서 자연스럽게 벌어지는 예술 작업들을 통해 우리의 지역과 자연이 문화 예술적인 요소들과 어떻게 어우러지는지, 그것이 어떤 힘을 가지고 새로운 시대를 맞이하는 마중물이 될 수 있을지 실험한다. 

흙과 바람의 생리를 숭고하게 온몸으로 받아들인 농부와 자연에서 예술의 소재를 찾아내는 예술가가 만나 생태적이고 근원적인 순환의 의미 안에서 빚어낼 수 있는 것이 있다면 거기에서 새로운 예술 작품은 탄생할 것이다. 환경을 포함해서 모든 것이 무너져내린 펜데믹의 시대, 바로 지금, 축제가 ‘안녕!’ 인사하며 맞이하려 하는 것은 자연, 지역, 문화, 철학적인 관점에서의 생태, 모든 인간들의 먹거리의 근간인 농사라는 키워드 안에서 서로를 이롭게 하는 예술, 근원적인 상생의 흐름이다.  

모든 프로그램은 유튜브, 페이스북 등 온라인을 통해 실시간 중계될 예정이다.

Purpose

The subject “PANDEMIC ... Hello? Good-bye!” means greetings for encounter and farewell. A hopless greetings from the Pandemic era and desperate farewell greetings from the humanbeing. Nobody knew the worldwide collapses of the economy, politics, culture and society and long-lasting chaos over 2 years. This tragedy reveals the hopless result of the mammonism, ecocide and climate change all caused by human greed. Now we have the tasks for the beyond the pandemic. Post-pandemic, how human’s life should go?  
 
Inconvenient life, slow life but co-existing life with other lives.
The answer for the question is in the rural life and nature when we think we have to live finding out the preciousness and beauty of lives. In there, how art goes to spread roots and shoot out the branches to make the shade for the rest.

2021 SIEAF will experiment how this festival can be the pump primer for the new era and match the local nature and culture through the artistic works on the Sumjin riverside and streets.
The encounter of farmers who know the sublime principles of soil and wind and artists who seek the artistic material in the nature can bring an eco friendly and fundamental new art. In the all collapsing era, the purpose of this festival is  welcoming the coexistent art in the keyword of agriculture and eco.
